1. Tell us about you .
Hi! My name is Hailey Faria and my family and I are currently residing in Oklahoma. I have been married to a United States Marine for 12 years and we have two gorgeous kids. We have been blessed to travel from coast to coast and off the coast to Hawaii..we find love in each state we end up in and never want to move - until we have reached our next destination and fall in love all over again. This has helped me grow as a photographer, embracing new demographics and learning from the land that we settle on - it always has a lesson to give.
2. When did you learn photography ?
I began photography in high school as the Student Senate’s Historian - photographed nearly every special event, but took a break until my second child was born. It was then that I teamed up with a friend and began creating tutu’s and crocheted goodies, I needed to pick up the camera again to photograph our products on child models - from there I regained my love for photography. That was in 2012.
3. Whose work has influenced you most ?
I love being inspired by local artists. I try to find creative people around me wherever we go, I believe in collaboration and the influence of others to help you grow. My first inspirations were Rachel Griffith from Verge, Tara Tomlinson Photography..then I remember Work of Heart was the queen of styled sessions. Lately, my inspirations are India Earl, Joy Prouty, Stormy Solis, Twyla Jones and the LooksLikeFilm community.
4. How do you educate yourself to grow in your art ?
Being constantly plugged in to my community, online photography community groups and with daily devotional inspiration.
5. What is the one thing you wish you knew when you started taking photos?
To be different, even if it isn’t accepted at first. Create my own art.
6. What kind of gear do you use?
I shoot with both Nikon and Canon on each hip. I have a D800 and Mark iii - I shoot primary lenses only, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm!
